On the very cold morning of December 16th, a hardy band of volunteer retirees gathered at the Jericho Lane entrance to the Great Dismal Swamp NWR to assist Refuge Biologist Susan Stanley and former Refuge Manager Chris Lowie (also retired) with laying the foundation for a new walking trail foot bridge. The crew consisted of Doug Davis, an environmental consultant from Virginia Beach, and S-N IWLA Chapter members Ray Powell, Bob Marchant, and Mike Lane.
