The guest speaker at the chapter’s April 18th dinner meeting was Mr. Kermit Hobbs. After retiring in 2010 from an engineering and production management career, Mr. Hobbs now enjoys a second career after forming Pathfinders Associates LLC, mediating disputes and working in community service. He is also an avid history buff and has written a number of publications about Suffolk history and frequently speaks at civic organizations on local history.
Mr. Hobbs presentation was titled ” Storm Over Suffolk – A Human Perspective”. During the presentation personal letters between Anna Mary Riddick and various family members and friends were read to give the history a personal perspective. The time period discussed was from just before until after the civil war and was focused on key events in and around the city of Suffolk. As Mr. Hobbs read the various personal letters they gave insight into the people who actually lived through the events.
