The chapter’s 8th annual Teddy Bear Hunt took place on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Twenty-seven (27) children ages 3 to 10 years old participated in the event along with their parents or guardians. It was a beautiful spring day at the park for looking for Bears, enjoying lunch, fishing in the pond, using the archery range, or just wandering around the park. The entire park had been meticulously groomed the previous weekend by several chapter Ikes who showed up to mow grass and trim weeds alongside the driving and walking paths and at the pond’s edge as part of a scheduled park workday event.
The teddy bears for this event were donated by one of our Chapter Ikes who wishes to remain anonymous; other sponsors include: Perry Minnow Farm who provided 30 containers of redworms for fishing, DWR (Department of Wildlife Resources) who provided 25 fishing rods/reels and tackle boxes, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Station#6 whose personnel were onsite in standby mode, and Wilbox Bait and Tackle who refurbished the chapter’s archery equipment at cost to ensure it was safe for use by children.
