The Suffolk Clean City Commission (SCCC) sponsored a recycling event, in the Lowe’s parking lot on North Main St., on Saturday the 17th of September. The event ran from 9:00am until 1:00pm and had a steady flow of residents through out the event. Volunteers supporting the event included two SNIWLA chapter members, Mike Lane and Tim Doxey.
135 residents dropped off hazardous waste materials, 5,000 pounds of shredded documents and 600 pounds of plastic/cardboard. Approximately 400 pounds of donated food was collected for the local food bank. Additionally, 979 automobile and light truck tires were collected for recycling.
