Saturday, May 18th, the chapter park was buzzing with activity from early morning until late afternoon. Gary Brown, BBQ Fundraiser Chairman, and a crew of volunteers set up at the front gate to fill orders for pork barbecue. A steady line of customers arrived to pick up their pork. A total of 96 butts were smoked, chopped and packaged for delivery. Gary did a great job as chairman of the fundraiser project, especially in coordinating the efforts of our chapter member volunteers who all worked hard to make the event a success. The barbecue was delicious and a special thanks goes out to Ken Dugan for his special butt rub and sauce.
The chapter picnic was also held on Saturday. Members and their guests were treated to hot dogs and hamburgers as well as some just off the smoker barbecued pork. Baked beans, cole slaw and a variety of deserts rounded out the meal. It was good to see some newer members with their children at the picnic and enjoying the park. Both young and old tried their hand at fishing. From the photos it looks like the youngsters had the most success.
