About a dozen or so Chapter Ikes showed up early on the morning of Saturday, April 19th at the park gazebo for the scheduled Park Cleanup Workday. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, the sun was shining and thankfully there was a nice breeze to stay cool which was a blessing.
The primary goal of this cleanup, as outlined by Park Manager Jimmy Fanny to the assembled group, was to spruce up the park in preparation for next Saturday’s annual Chapter Teddy Bear Hunt. Tasks that were accomplished included blowing leaves from the gazebo area, cleaning/testing out the cooking grill, trimming weeds alongside the pond’s perimeter, trimming grass at the archery range, and clearing debris and removing leaves from ditches alongside the driving paths. Also, several Ikes took on the more arduous task of pulling hardwood and pine tree saplings from the dam’s surfaces.
All of the Ikes who participated in this cleanup will receive credit for hours worked towards meeting the chapter’s annual volunteer participation requirement.
Chapter photograph Jim Anderson took a few photos at the event, displayed below for your viewing enjoyment. Thanks, fellas, for the hard work!
