January 2022 Chapter Dinner Meeting

The chapter held its regular monthly dinner meeting on January 20th at the Kings Fork Community House.

New Chapter Member Karl (Eric) Fjell

After calling the meeting to order, and following the Pledge of Allegiance and Member’s Pledge, chapter President Chris Ferguson welcomed visitors and asked for chapter board member Ken Dugan to say the grace.

About 33 chapter Ikes showed up for the evening and enjoyed a wonderful meal of baked ziti with 3-bean salad and garlic bread. Chapter Ikes David and Jennifer Wood helped chapter food chair Claudia Powell in the kitchen.  Scrumptious desserts were donated by chapter Ikes Bob and Kathy Marchant.

Afterwards President Ferguson asked for the Treasurer’s report and then swore in new member Karl (Eric) Fjell. Welcome Eric!

Chapter Ike and IWLA National Director Jim Trommatter

Our guest speaker for the evening was our very own chapter Ike Jim Trommatter who is also our chapter’s National IWLA director. He presented a 7-minute video about the IWLA National’s 100 year anniversary that you can view at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSKkv5UNFvw. He encouraged every member to watch it and share it with like-minded conservationists.

Chapter Ike Jacob Bosco with his award certificate

A special member recognition award certificate was presented to Chapter Ike Jacob Bosco for his many hours of volunteer work at the chapter park chopping/splitting firewood and pulling roots from the chapter park dam.

On behalf of chapter Ike & scholarship chair David Perdue, President Ferguson announced that 2022 chapter education scholarship applications will be open February 1st and the deadline for submission is April 1st.  This year two (2) $1,000 awards are being offered. See https://sniwla.org/sniwla/scholarships/ for more information.

Chapter Ike Joyce Dugan asked for volunteer sign-ups to bring homemade chili for the upcoming February 16th members chili cookoff chapter meeting.  A separate members-only email e-blast will be sent later with more information.

The closing agenda item for the meeting was a safety briefing and review of the chapter’s youth protection policy conducted by chapter Treasurer Tim Doxey.

President Ferguson, after reviewing the list of events as posted on the chapter website calendar, reminded everyone of next month’s chili cookoff and that he is still the chapter’s shooting coordinator for the .22 Members rimfire competition scheduled for Saturday, March 19th.
