November, 2021 Park Maintenance Work Crew

On the morning of Tuesday, November 30th there was a cool, brisk wind blowing off the chapter pond, and the sun was shining.

Chapter Ikes Chris Ferguson (President), Tim Doxey (Treasurer),  Jacob Bosco, and Ray Powell met at the chapter park dam, dressed in appropriate layers of clothing, to spend a few hours hacking roots from the front face of the dam using shovels and axes.  The resulting holes were then filled and packed with fill dirt.

This type of work is not for the faint of heart; even our socks got soaked with sweat.  As Jacob remarked, “this is more fun that going to the gym”.

Amazingly, the task of dam root removal from the front face of the dam is about 75% complete, thanks in no small part to Jacob’s solo efforts in removing roots from the dam on his own schedule these past few weeks. Thanks to Jacob’s leadership, we were inspired to schedule another volunteer work crew to continue removing roots on Saturday, December 4th at 10AM.
