Our Chapter presented two conservation minded local students with scholarships. The scholarship awards were presented by David Perdue, the chapter’s Scholarship Committee chair, during the July 21st member’s meeting.

Hickory High School graduate, Connor Kimener (left) received a $1,000.00 scholarship from our chapter for 2021. Connor was selected from several applicants for this year’s award. This fall he will be attending Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg Virginia and will be majoring in Conservation Biology with a minor in Environmental Sustainability.

Virginia Polytechnic and State University senior, Elijah Hoar (below) received one of only two $2,500.00 National IWLA Conservation scholarship awards for 2021. Eli previously received one of our chapter’s scholarship awards in both 2018 and  2019. As a result of having received a chapter scholarship, he was eligible to apply for a National IWLA scholarship.
