To: All S-N IWLA Members

From: Wanda Gerard

Subj: RSVP requested to assist planting native plants in our Park this coming Sunday, November 1, 2015, starting at 2:00PM, at the Park Pavilion, we will have a small introduction over what we are planting, where, why, etc., then, we will move out to the do the actual plantings.

pickerel

Pickerel

We have 25 6″ potted pickerel weed plants being donated by Dr. Laurie Fox for the water side of the dam.

For the other side of the dam, towards the woods, for just a 4-6 foot slice of that hill, we will plant Goldenrod, Black Eyed Susan and other native plants that I can dig from my garden to help introduce native plants into our park that habitat will use.

BLACKEYEDSUSAN

Black Eyed Susan

So – come one, come all, come with garden trowels and other tools that you think might help. Wear rugged type clothing and shoes, and be prepared for weather, briars, and the like. We have a few cub scouts that are wanting to join us, but anyone interested in beautifying our park and helping nature one step at a time is welcome to join. We will of course instruct and guide any children that are with us to do as much of the planting as possible so they can truly experience what it is like to put a plant into the earth for it to grow. Adults will be able to plant too, but may be really helping with supervising the kids depending on how many show up.

Thanks in advance. Please contact me to sign up so I know about how many people to expect.
