2016 Teddy Bear Hunt

As part of our youth program, the Suffolk-Nansemond Chapter of the IWLA held its second Teddy Bear Hunt at the SNIWLA park on April 23rd, 2016. If smiles are any indication, the event was a huge success.

There was a big smile on the face of all 35 little hunters. The majority of the 75 adults that accompanied them were also smiling until activities were curtailed and the last hay ride out of the park was completed just before a strong storm cell passed through the area late in the afternoon.

Ricky George, Youth Program Coordinator, organized approximately 30 chapter volunteers in support of the event. Support for the event also included two members of the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Department.

After the Teddy Bear hunt completed, a lunch of grilled hot dogs, potato chips, cookies and beverages, supplied by the chapter, was served up to the hungry hunters and their friends and family members.

With evidence of cookies and chocolate milk still on their faces, participants tried their hands at fishing in the pond, hitting the target at the archery range or taking walks through the park just “experiencing nature”.

A special thank you goes out to Secure Mission Solutions, A Parson’s Company for donating the Teddy Bears. Their donation made for a bunch of happy little hunters. All the proceeds generated by the Teddy Bear Hunt will be applied towards the Chapter’s conservation fund.
