Elijah is a repeat scholarship winner as he received one of the two $1,000.00 scholarships awarded last year.<\/p>\n<p>Pictured is David Perdue, chapter scholarship committee chair, presenting the check and award certificate. Elijah expressed his appreciation of the awards and shared some of his experiences while attending Virginia Tech. last year. He has selected agronomy as his major. Agronomists are scientists who look for ways to increase soil productivity, the quality of seeds and the nutritional value of crops. He chose agronomy because we will need to double crop output by the year 2050 to keep up with projected population increases.
