\"\"Saturday morning brought overcast skies with the chance of spotty showers.\u00a0 Apparently, the Chapter Park was one of those spots.\u00a0 Participants began arriving along with a slight drizzle.\u00a0 The drizzle turned to a light rain but that didn\u2019t dampen the enthusiasm of the youngsters or the fish.<\/p>\n

Twenty-one children, accompanied by a parent or guardian, participated in the event.\u00a0 Almost all of the children caught at least one fish, with many snagging several fish.\u00a0 The biggest catch of the day was an 8-inch-long catfish.\u00a0 Based on all of the smiling faces, the size of their catches didn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 The majority of the children had prior fishing experience so there weren\u2019t many \u201cfirst fish\u201d certificates, but they were all excited to share how many fish they caught and receive a certificate.\u00a0 There were a few \u201cfish stories\u201d about how many were caught.\"\"<\/p>\n

Lunch was served to the hungry, happy anglers as the rain started to let up.\u00a0 After lunch there was a drawing for a youth fishing pole with some starter tackle.\u00a0 Emerson Holbrook (pictured below) was the lucky winner.\"\"<\/p>\n

The day was a little soggy, but it didn\u2019t dampen the enjoyment of a good day fishing.\u00a0 Thanks to all Chapter volunteers and to Gary Brown for stepping in to coordinate to make the event a success.\u00a0 Many of the young people thanked us for holding such a fun event.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
