The chapter held its regular monthly dinner meeting on the 3rd Wednesday<\/strong>, March 15th<\/strong> at the Kings Fork Community House. After calling the meeting to order, and following the Pledge of Allegiance and Member’s Pledge, chapter President Chris Ferguson welcomed visitors and asked for the grace.<\/p>\n

About 20 chapter Ikes showed up for the evening and enjoyed a scrumptious meal of baked ham, yams\/apples, green beans, and rolls served up by chapter Food Chair Claudia Powell with assistance from chapter Ikes David and Jennifer Wood, and Bob and Kathy Marchant.<\/p>\n

Also, a large assortment of delicious home-made desserts were prepared and donated by chapter Ikes Joyce Dugan and Kathy Marchant.<\/p>\n

Afterwards President Ferguson swore in new members Victor (Vic) and Cheryl Pisani as shown here in this photo to the right.<\/p>\n

Our guest speaker for the evening was Chris Lowrie, Manager of the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge (GDSNWR).\u00a0 He gave presentations on the history of the swamp and on the status of the Jericho Ditch Trailhead Enhancement Project which is the culmination of the 15 year 2016 CCP (Comprehensive Conservation Plan). Prior to adjourning the meeting, President Ferguson reminded our members of upcoming scheduled events this quarter in which they may choose to participate and\/or volunteer to help out. Please check the chapter website calendar and the March 2022 monthly newsletter<\/a>\u00a0 for more information on the upcoming scheduled events which include a St. Patty’s Day Cleanup, chapter RimFire Members-Only Shooting Competition, chapter Adopt-A-Road Cleanup, Suffolk Recycling Tire Amnesty Day, chapter Park Maintenance Work Day, chapter Teddy Bear Hunt, and last but not least chapter scholarship application submissions.<\/p>\n
