Volunteers from the Nansemond River Preservation Alliance came out to give us a hand. Volunteers picked up trash and other debris from along the banks of the Nansemond River behind the businesses along North Main Street.The event was also supported by the city&#8217;s Litter Control Coordinator, Wayne Jones, by loaning us safety vests and trash grabbers as well as supplying some trash bags. Wayne arranged for a temporary storage location for the collected materials and subsequent pick up by the city for final disposal.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the event volunteers had collected 85 bags of trash, 15 tires, 14 grocery carts, 2 bicycles and numerous other items including a front door.
