How To Use the Park Lock

For Chapter Members: Instructions for
Using the Front Park Gate Combination Lock to Enter and Exit the Park

Members: DO NOT LOCK THE GATE AFTER YOU HAVE ENTERED THE PARK. ONLY LOCK IT WHEN YOU ARE THE LAST PERSON TO LEAVE THE PARK. Also, please review the detailed instructions below to ensure you are following all of the procedures as authorized by our chapter Board of Directors when entering and exiting the chapter park.

Entering the Park

  1. If the gate is locked, spin the tumblers to the proper combination (use offset row as shown) and open the lock. Otherwise, if someone else is in the park, it should be unlocked already.
  2. Swing the gate wide and sign yourself in along with your guests in the logbook stored in the mailbox located behind the front gate. If you plan to shoot at the range, check the firing range column on the sign-in sheet and be sure to raise the RED flag on the mailbox to let others know that someone is using the range.
  3. Drive your vehicle(s) in through the gate, closing and securing it behind you with the small chain but do not lock it.
  4. SPIN the combination to 0 0 0 0 (or to a random sequence) to hide the park combination from others.

Exiting the Park

  1. Sign yourself out as well as your guests in the logbook stored in the mailbox located behind the front gate. If you did any work, be sure to check the WORK column and enter a brief description of what you did. If you caught any fish, be sure to fill out an entry in the fish catch workbook stored in the mailbox as well. *If no one else is using the firing range, then lower the mailbox RED flag to let others know that the range is not in use.
  2. Swing the gate wide, drive your vehicle(s) out through the gate, and close it behind you.
  3. *If you are the last person in the park to leave then lock the gate using the long chain. IMPORTANT: The lock must be set to the proper park combination so that the shackle can be pushed into the lock.
  4. Otherwise, if you are NOT the last person in the park to leave, then simply use the small chain to secure the gate but do not lock it.
  5. SPIN the combination to 0 0 0 0 (or to a random sequence) to hide the park combination from others.

NOTES:

  • *To determine whether other members are still in the park, and/or whether the firing range is still in use, please review the sign-out times that were entered by all of the members who signed in and/or out that same day. This will help you when deciding whether to lock the gate and/or lower the red flag on the mailbox as you leave.
  • The lock on the conex boxes at the park gazebo and archery range are of the same design and are set to the same combination.
